From there fly to Leh, the capital of Ladakh, and located at over 3000 meters, and home to ancient and unique Tibetan culture.  Visit local villages with green oases, among the stark mountain vistas, as well as the moon-like landscapes of the Nubra Valley.  Alchi is snuggled in the valley of the Indus River down the prehistoric trade path & is famous for its stunning gompas that cling to the mountainsides.  Srinagar, the summer capital of Kashmir, can be enjoyed staying on the romantic houseboats, visits to beautifully preserved Moghul gardens and serene mosques. You’ll also visit Gulmarg, Kashmir’s most popular hill station.

ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Day 1, 2 & 3

Day 1: Delhi
On arrival into Delhi you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: Delhi
Guided tour of Old and New Delhi

Day 3: Leh
Early morning transfer to the airport and board your flight to Leh. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Leh. Rest of day at leisure for acclimatisation to the high altitude.

Day 4, 5 & 6

Day 4: Leh
After breakfast a full day tour of monasteries and palaces alongside Indus Valley surrounding Leh.

Day 5: Leh
Today after breakfast proceed to visit Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa & Tsemo Hill before returning back to the hotel.

Day 6: Nubra
After breakfast drive to the Nubra Valley (approx 6 hrs) passing over the Khardung La Pass.

Day 7, 8

Day 7: Nubra
Day visits of Chennai’s marvels.

Day 8: Nubra
Day excursion to Turtuk Village, one of the most northernmost villages in Ladakh, and if lucky you can catch a glimpse of K2, the world’s second highest mountain, located in neighbouring Pakistan.

Day 9, 10 & 11

Day 9: Leh
Today after breakfast you will drive back to Leh. Evening will be at leisure.

Day 10: Alchi
After leisurely breakfast drive to Alchi visiting Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Magnetic Hill, Spituk Monastery, Likir Monastery and the 11th century Alchi Choskor.

Day 11: Kargil
Drive from Alchi to Kargil stopping en route to visit Lamayuru, the oldest monastery in central Ladakh, and Mulbekh,a 1st century giant Buddha carved into the mountainside.
Evening at leisure.

Day 12, 13 & 14

Day 12: Srinagar
Continue this morning to Srinigar, visiting Drass and Sonemarg en route. On arrival Srinagar check into your hotel.

Day 13: Srinagar
Guided tour of Srinigar – visit the famous gardens of Srinagar built by Shah Jahan and Jahangir for his beloved Noor Jahan followed by walk around of old bazaar on the banks of the city and seethe Jama Masjid. Evening at leisure.

Day 14: Gulmarg
Today drive to Gulmarg also known as The Meadow of Flowers. Check-in at your hotel and rest of day at leisure.

Day 15 & 16

Day 15: Gulmarg
This morning take a ride on the Gulmarg gondola-one of Asia’s longest and highest cable cars.

Day 16: Srinagar
After leisurely breakfast you will be driven back to Srinagar to check-in to your houseboat on Lake Dal.

Day 17 & 18

Day 17: Srinagar
Relax on the Sukoon, or take the the opportunity to do some shopping for textiles and other Kashmiri treasures.
Dinner on board the Sukoon.

Day 18: Flight Home
This morning disembark and drive to Srinagar airport to board flight to Delhi & internally connect for your flight  home.
